We generate Big Data graphs from data points about a subject that sparks our interest, or yours.
From there, we use the graph as a starting point to create a physical work of art that is visually stunning. We aim to bridge technology and aesthetics, engaging viewers and inspiring curiosity. That’s our research focus. Learning something new every day from data, while we produce a beautiful artwork. Connecting high-tech with crafts.

How It Started
Years ago when after-dinner conversations started to include topics like Big Data or the Internet of Things I remember feeling very disconnected from those words. As if they belonged to a world of experts and specialists. I never imagined that random unrelated events would somehow show me a path toward an activity that allows me to flow, feel satisfied; and bring me closer to once foreign concepts.
My only brother lives in Sweden. Years ago I had the opportunity to visit him. He is a Visual Analytics PhD and I feel satisfied knowing that means he works with special graphs used to represent large amounts of data (Big Data) These graphs are balanced and harmonious. There’s a certain lightness and fluidity to them.
So we, my brother and I, decided to experiment and combine my love of working with different materials, especially threads; because I’m fascinated with their colors, textures, and origins. With these incredible graphs. Plus, we get to learn about the data collected. This is how Unhidden Data Art started. A place where we have the opportunity to leverage our curiosity and create unique pieces that bridge visual analytics with handcrafted art.
